My Approach

I aim to offer a calm, inclusive, reflective space where you feel listened to, understood, and supported in making sense of what you are experiencing.

Effective empowering psychotherapy is about finding a balance between support and challenge. Too much of either on its own doesn’t work very well.

Supportive therapy is essential for building trust and a solid working relationship. Challenge may include pointing out patterns, inconsistencies or assumptions that don’t seem to be serving you.

If, for example, my client has a low opinion of themself, I need to be supportive by accepting and allowing space for how they are feeling. At the same time, we will also need to explore how they developed these beliefs and to challenge them.

My work is grounded in an affirmative approach to psychotherapy. This means I take issues of inequality and discrimination seriously and strive to be respectful, informed, and validating of each person’s lived experience.
